Sulkava Rowing Festival - one of the biggest sports events in Finland

Sulkava Rowing Festival is one of the biggest rowing events in the world. Some 10,000 rowers take part in the Rowing Festival annually. Nowadays the event takes place over four days starting on the Thursday preceding the second Sunday in July and ending on the second Sunday in July. During the event, two separate 2-day rowing competitions take place with routes of 70 km each.

Unbelievably beatiful scenery

In addition, four separate competitions and/or exercise starts for church boats and two for small boats are organised. The route of these is approximately 60 km to be rowed without stopping. The route goes around the Partalansaari island in the unbelievably beautiful scenery of the Saimaa Lake area.
