By boat to the Venice of the North
If you want to explore the surroundings of Savonlinna as the captain of your own boat, you will find wonderful waterways and harbours pulsating with the local joie de vivre. You can reach Savonlinna from the Gulf of Finland via the Saimaa Canal, and continue onwards to the provinces of North Savo and North Karelia. You can also ply the lake waters in a rented boat, so there´s no need to be a landlubber just because you don´t own a boat.
